It’s No Joke Part 2 By Eleanor

April19

After a few minutes, dad came back in. “I know exactly what I should do!” dad announced. “I shall become an estate agent!” Mum groaned. “Listen Mike, you can’t give up comedy. It’s where your heart is.” she said comfortingly as I dropped my spoon on the ceramic floor. “No!” replied dad. “I shall give up comedy and work as a proper estate agent!” “Dad, you may be embarrassing but I think you should keep going. Although I do like the idea of having a ….. let’s say ……. normal dad!” Just then a loud HONK went off outside. “Oh! School bus! Bye!” I jumped out of my seat and ran out of the house. “So everyone listen carefully please. We are going to be holding a talent show!!” said Mr. Fisher. Everyone in school cried and cheered. “That is all” shouted Mr. Fisher over the noise. Back at home, dad came in with some exiting news. “I have been hired!” dad said with a grin spread all over his face. “That’s wonderful dad!” I exclaimed. Mum sighed. “You’re gonna regret this Mike, you really are” she said. Dad stopped dancing and went over to her. “Oh Lynne, Lynne.” he said and swooped her in a dip. “More money for the house, more for the furniture …….. more money for my diamond”.” Mum giggled like a little girl. “Okay then honey” she said and pecked him on the cheek. That’s when I gagged. “I am just going to my room” I said. They weren’t really listening. Mum was too engrossed in staring at dad’s eyes and dad was certainly too busy charming mum. I crept upstairs like a spy, and tip – toed into mum and dad’s room. And there, on the bed, was exactly what I was looking for. The Joke Book. Containing all dad’s jokes. I swiped it from the bed. As I crept past the stairs, I heard mum was being a whole lot nicer about the situation. “Do you think Charlotte will mind?” I heard mum whisper. “Yeah she will be fine. I have already earned £50 just getting there” replied dad. “You really are my hero” mum sighed. Judging by her tone of voice, she has probably just fallen into his lap. Today was the talent show. I saw everyone filling up, including mum and dad who had linked arms. I just rolled my eyes at those people. They had NEVER been this close before. Just then the curtains opened, and I was ready to do my act. I read all my dad’s jokes and dad finally tagged that I was using his joke book. After I read all the jokes ( even the rude ones ) I told everyone that dad wanted to be an estate agent. I told everyone that, if they wanted dad to carry on with comedy, raise their hand. I was delighted to see that everyone, except dad’s boss, raised their hands. I know, dad’s boss was actually here!!!!! After that dad decided he would quit his job. “Well done” I said as I handed back his Joke Book. As we walked away, mum said “I can’t believe you read that rude one about me” she said as she punched me lightly on the shoulder. “And I can’t believe YOU put it in that Joke Book” said mum as she touched dad on the nose. “I’m sorry for being such a grouch” said dad. Mum enveloped him in a bear hug. “It’s okay”

Magical Mermaids Part 3 By Eleanor

April19

Gabriella let out a long sigh. She wondered how it would feel if she had a dream like Natalie – to have such ambition. Now that the girls were nearly sixteen, it seemed everyone in the world had found something they love, apart from her. Gabriella shrugged off the thought. There was plenty of time. And right then things were super busy. She was worrying about all the biology studying she had to catch up on when she heard a deep voice. “Gabriella!” Gabriella looked up and gasped. Zane Bennett was calling her from one of the berths – no bet where one of his dad’s yachts were kept. Zane Bennett was an arrogant snob. He always thought he could get away with anything because his dad was rich. In fact, his dad was the only person more obnoxious more than him.  Zane had a screwdriver in his hand and that permanent look of arrogance on his face. He was crouching on the side of the marina, next to his little boat. The engine cover was off and it looked as if it was having trouble. Gabriella let out a sigh and hoped he wasn’t talking to her. He had certainly never bothered with her before, and it wasn’t as if she knew anything about boats. She was surprised that he even knew her name. She put her head down and kept on walking. “Hey Gabriella!” he called again. There was no use ignoring him, she knew he had already seen her. She looked over her shoulder, cautiously, still hoping he was talking to someone else. “Yes, that Gabriella!” he said with an easy laugh. Gabriella was confused – he almost sounded friendly. “I’m in some trouble here, can you help?” he asked.

It’s No Joke By Eleanor

April19

My dad makes a joke out of everything. Well, it’s his job: he’s a stand – up comedian. My friends think their parents are embarrassing when they show pictures of them in their ballet gear or football kit, but that’s nothing. My dad tells whole crowds of people about the time I laughed so hard milk spurted out of my nose, or how I spent the whole day with chocolate spread on my chin. It would have been nice if he had told me about the chocolate spread, rather than just jotting it down in his joke book, but that’s the trouble of having a comedian for a dad. The joke book is what dad calls his special notepad where he keeps all his gags and funny stories. It’s his most prized possession and he never goes anywhere without it. But he hasn’t written anything in it lately and yesterday he went out and left it on the kitchen table. This morning I came downstairs to get my breakfast and found dad gazing sadly at the notebook while mum whizzed round the kitchen making my packed lunch and feeding the dog. I kept my fingers crossed that she wouldn’t get distracted again. The dog loved eating my ham sandwich but I was less keen on his biscuits, even if they did promise to give me a glossy coat. Dad sighed loudly. “It’s no good. I am just not hilarious any more. Even Charlotte has stopped doing funny things.” He looked at me, as though I might suddenly do something comical, like slip on a banana skin or something. I carried on eating my cornflakes, being very careful with the milk and making sure I wiped my chin every few mouthfuls. “Don’t be so melodramatic”said mum. “Why don’t you go outside to clear your head?” “My head’s already empty.”dad complained.

Magical Mermaids Part 2 By Eleanor

April19

Natalie smiled up at her friend. She really appreciated Gabriella’s help while she was training. It was way more fun having someone there with her, encouraging her. “I’ll do better than that tomorrow”she said. “Give me two more weeks and I’ll be ready for the championships.” She looked full of excitement and enthusiasm. Gabriella suddenly wished that she had something that made her feel that way. Pushing the thought aside, she beamed down at Natalie, who was getting ready for another lap. “It’s so cool” Gabriella said. Natalie smiled in agreement, and then put her goggles back on and launched off from the side of the pool. Gabriella looked down at the stop watch again, thinking how exiting it would be to watch her friend compete in the regional championships. She had no doubt that Natalie would win. Natalie could do anything she set her heart to. After Natalie agreed that she had finished training for the day, the girls agreed to meet up at the Juice – Net Cafe later on. Natalie had to go home and get changed, and Gabriella seriously had to go home and try and finish her biology. They arranged a meeting time and and then headed off in different directions. It was a hot day and Gabriella decided to walk around the beach. She enjoyed the cool breeze that came off the water, and was soon lost in thought. She was picturing Natalie’s look of enthusiasm and hope. Natalie was so incredibly talented. Not only that, she was dedicated as well. It wasn’t just luck that taken her so far, it was hard work. Natalie was so focused on her dream about becoming a champion swimmer, and was becoming closer and closer to achieving it. Of course, Gabriella knew how much Natalie put in to it and she was happy to do whatever she could do to help her best friend.

Magical Mermaids By Eleanor

April19

Natalie Smith dived into the pool with barely a splash, and then curved up to the surface. Her hands sliced through the water – each clean stroke followed by another just as skillfully. She concentrated on keeping her breath steady and her movements under control, enjoying the movement of the water rippling over her arms. Her long blonde hair was packed tightly into a close – fitting swimming hat to keep her as streamlined as possible. Speed and control she said to herself over and over again. Speed and control. That’s what would help her win the swimming champion ships one day. On the other side of the pool her best friend, Gabriella Johnson, was watching in admiration. Natalie’s strokes cut through the shimmering surface of the water without a single splash. She looked as if she had been swimming her entire life. Thinking about it, Gabriella realized that it wasn’t all to far from the truth. Natalie had been swimming since she was six months old, and for all the years Gabriella had known her, it had been her friend’s greatest passion. Gabriella couldn’t swim a single stroke, but she still had fun helping Natalie to train. At first Natalie had tried to persuade Gabriella to join her. But as much as Gabriella loved watching her friend swim, she hated the idea of getting into the water herself. The very thought of it made her feel sick. With one final kick, Natalie glided up to the edge of the pool and pulled off her goggles as Gabriella quickly hit the stopwatch. She bent down to the side of the pool to show Natalie her result, and Natalie’s face lit up with a smile. “Awesome, that’s point two of my personal best!” she said, looking at the display. “Natalie, you were really motoring then!”said Gabriella.

More About Oscar By Eleanor

March31

Before Oscar arrived, we bought him : A bed and blanket, a chew toy, a collar, a name tag, a ball, a lead, a doggie bowl, some yummy puppy treats, puppy food and a brush for his coat. We called our puppy Oscar because we all liked Oscar and thought it was very cute. Other names we thought about include Merlin, Marley, Penny [ for a girl ] and Jet. Also my friends Madeline and Alyssa reccomended the name Oscar. Oscar is a black lab, he is a male, his birthday is on the 29th of December, he was born in Eccleston, Lancs, there were 4 other puppies in the litter and his mum was golden and his dad was black.

Coming Home

On his first day at home, Oscar met : My mum, my dad, my granny, my grandma, me, Harriet and my mums godfather. He played with me and Harriet in the garden and in his crate. His faveriote toy is his knotty rope. He ate kibble for his dinner. On his first day in his new home he played with his toys and waited until me and Harriet came home from school. When we walked in he got a big hug from Harriet and I started crying. After I finished crying he gave me a big hug and a little nibble.

List Of Firsts

When Oscar first met another dog he was not really bothered much. The dog’s name was Mollie. When Oscar first saw a cat he acted quite apprehensively at first. The cat’s name was Tim. We can’t wait to see Oscar when he first goes swimming!

His First Night In His New Home

Before Oscar goes to bed he occasionally [ if on a Saturday ] stays up and watches Ant and Dec’s Saurday night takeaway. He especcially likes Dec! Oscar’s bed is in the dining room, his bedtime is at 11:00 pm. He goes to sleep with his lion and he wakes up at 7:13 am. Sometimes he is not always that sleepy as he spends all day sleeping, playing, sleeping etc. Sometimes Oscar sleeps with his eyes open!

His New Family

The people who live in Oscar’s new home are my dad, my mum, me and Harriet and we do not own any other pets. He cuddles my mum the most because she was the first to meet him and he plays with me the most because I am always downstairs with him to give him his breakfast and tea. The person who cleans up after him the most is Harriet because my dad does not do alot of pooper scooping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Don’t Like These…..

Oscar does not like loud noises, the dark, being left alone and balloons. When he gets frightened he norally goes to hide in his crate.

Thank you for putting up with me while I talk about my new puppy. If you have any questions, please leave a comment. Thankyou!
